Happy 2025!
Take a few MOMENTS to relax and read.

MONEY TIP
As the new year begins, take the opportunity to perform a “financial reset” by creating a detailed personal or household budget. Start by reviewing last year’s expenses to identify patterns and areas for improvement, then set clear financial goals for the year ahead—whether it’s saving for a big purchase, paying down debt, or building an emergency fund. Automate your savings to ensure consistency and reduce the temptation to overspend. Finally, review subscriptions and recurring expenses to eliminate services you no longer use, freeing up funds for more meaningful priorities.
O
OPPORTUNITY
The beginning of the year is a great time to start a new Bible plan. I have 11 options for you to choose from. I am doing a deep dive this year into one New Testament book at a time, but I still use multiple plans for that book.

MINIMALISM TIP
Minimalism isn’t impossible with young kids. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and believe we can never have a minimalist home until the kids move out, but it’s not that difficult to do it now. I wrote an article on this exact topic this week.

ESSENTIAL READING
Use this year to be the year you stay on task and focus. Indistractable by Nir Eyal is about controlling your life and living intentionally. It’s a perfect read to bring in 2025.
N
NOTION
Have you taught your kids about emotional intelligence? Google defines emotional Intelligence as “the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.”
“I.Q. is about 24 points higher now than in 1918 – due to better nutrition, more school, smaller family size, etc. However, EQ is down compared to the last generation. Kids now are more lonely and depressed, more angry and unruly, more nervous and prone to worry, more impulsive, and more aggressive. Now, there are rising rates of despair, alienation, drug abuse, crime and violence, eating disorders, unwanted pregnancies, bullying, and dropping out of school.” -Daniel Goleman

TRAVEL TIP
Kick off the new year by planning your travel calendar early to secure the best deals and avoid last-minute stress. Start by identifying key dates for potential trips, then set fare alerts for flights and accommodations to take advantage of price drops. Consider traveling during the shoulder season for popular destinations to enjoy fewer crowds and better rates. If your passport or travel documents are nearing expiration, renew them now to avoid delays. Finally, create a travel savings plan—setting aside a small amount each month can help fund your adventures without straining your budget.
I prefer to plan my entire year during the first week of January. This way, I can plan out all traveling, trips, business-related tasks, and everything big on the schedule.

SCRIPTURE
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
